🌈The basics

What is Sticklez slime?

Sticklez is handmade slime from Cape Town, made with wild colours and textures. We make butter, clear and cloud slimes, plus Create & Play boxes so you can mix your own.

What is the difference between butter, clear and cloud slime?

Cloud is the fluffy one. Butter is the smooth, spreadable one. Clear is glossy and see-through, with a bubble-popping stretch. Mallow, Butter Me Up and Double Trouble are butter slimes. Charming Jelly and Cosmic Swirl are clear. Cloud Dreamer is our cloud slime.

Which slime should I pick?

Each slime has a skill level so you can choose one that suits you. Cloud slime is beginner, butter slime is intermediate and clear slime is advanced. Not sure? Email us at [email protected] and we will help you choose.

What jar sizes do you have?

Every slime comes in a small 125ml jar or a large 250ml jar.

🛡️Safety and ingredients

Is Sticklez slime safe? What age is it for?

Slime is a toy, not food, and it is not edible. It is recommended for ages 6 and up. Younger children should play with a grown-up nearby. Wash hands with soap and water before and after play, and keep slime away from faces, hair and mouths (Poison Control advice).

What is in your slime? Is it made with borax?

All our slimes are made with a borax-based activator. That is the ingredient that turns the glue mix into stretchy slime. Borax contains boron, which is why slime makers (and toy rules) pay close attention to how much boron a slime can release.

What is the EU boron limit, and where is Sticklez?

Under the EU Toy Safety Directive, the amount of boron that can be released from liquid or sticky toy material is capped at 300 mg per kg (see the BfR explanation and SGS testing guidance). We are working towards that level with our activator. We will share lab results here once we have them, and we do not claim a certification we do not hold yet.

Why use the Sticklez activator?

Because we are working towards the EU boron level of under 300 mg/kg with it, the Sticklez activator is the one we recommend for your Create & Play slime and for refreshing slime at home. It is made by us, for our slime.

What if my child has sensitive skin or gets a rash?

Stop playing, take the slime off, wash the skin with soap and water, pat dry and moisturise. Skin can get irritated by borax-based slime, especially with long contact (Poison Control advice). If the rash is severe, does not improve in a few days or looks infected, see a doctor or pharmacist.

What if slime is swallowed?

Wipe out the mouth with a damp cloth and give them something to drink. Then call the Poisons Information Helpline on 0861 555 777 (24 hours a day) or see a doctor (Poison Control advice). This is general information and not medical advice.

Can I play if I am neurodivergent or have sensory needs?

Absolutely, every brain is welcome here. Squish at your own pace, and ask us anything about textures, smells and how each slime feels before you buy. We are happy to run parties your way too.

🫧Care and play

How do I look after my slime?

Keep the lid tightly closed, store the jar at room temperature away from sun and heat, and play with clean, dry hands. Our Slime care page has the full guide.

Can slime go on hair, clothes or carpet?

Keep slime away from hair, fabric and carpet, because it can be hard to get out. Play on a clean tray, mat or table.

My slime has gone hard, stiff or sticky. Help!

Do not worry, it can usually be fixed. If it is hard or stiff, add a tiny amount of lotion, baby oil or glycerine at a time and knead it in. If it has gone sticky or melted, add a little activator, again a tiny amount at a time. Still stuck? Email us a photo at [email protected] and we will help.

🛍️Buying from us

What is in the Create & Play box?

Everything to make your own slime: a slime base, charms and sprinkles, clay and activator. It costs R285 and comes as a Girl box or a Boy box.

Do you do slime parties?

Yes, at our Slime Parlour. Parties start from R3,750 for up to 10 children, then R225 for each extra child from the 11th. Use the calculator on the Parties page and send us your enquiry.

Can I buy in bulk?

How do I get my slime?

You can collect in Table View, Cape Town, or have it delivered. We also sell at markets, so follow us for dates. Delivery cost shows at checkout.

How do I contact you?

Email us at 081 768 8199, or find us on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.

Where this comes from: the EU limit of 300 mg/kg boron for liquid or sticky toy material is in the EU Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, as explained by Germany’s BfR and in SGS testing guidance. Skin and swallowing advice follows Poison Control. This page is general information, not medical advice.
